FINANCIAL TERMS
1. Initial payments, membership plans, and associated fees are outlined in the online membership application.
2. Memberships can be paid in full via a lump sum or monthly via direct debit.
• Members who
choose to pay for 12 months upfront will receive one month’s free membership.
• For direct debit payments, members must make a pro-rata payment followed by their first direct debit instalment, which will be collected in advance on the 1st of each month.
3. If a direct debit payment is returned unpaid for reasons other than banking error, or if any other payment method is declined, a £5.00 administration fee will be charged in addition to the outstanding amount.
• If the
outstanding balance is paid within 7 days, the administration fee may be
waived.
• If the
payment remains unpaid and a second payment is missed, membership may be
cancelled.
• We reserve the right to pass unpaid balances to a debt collection agency.
4. Membership fees and payment collection dates may be adjusted periodically.
• Members
paying monthly will receive at least one full month’s notice of any fee changes
via email.
• Members on lump-sum plans will not be affected by fee changes until their renewal date.
5. Membership fees are non-refundable. However, in exceptional cases, lump-sum memberships may be temporarily frozen at management’s discretion.
6. The joining fee may be waived at the discretion of club management.
7. Changes to membership plans (upgrades/downgrades) may be subject to an administration fee.
• No
refunds will be given for membership downgrades.
ACCESS & USAGE
8. All members must complete an induction on the safe use of equipment before using the facilities.
9. Only individuals aged 18 or older may use the club’s facilities.
10. Members must create an online account to access the club and register visits.
11. To prevent unauthorized use, members must upload a photograph or have their photo taken.
• Memberships
are non-transferable and can only be used by the registered member.
• Members must not knowingly allow non-members to gain entry.
12. Membership
cards will not be issued but may still be used if retained from a previous
membership. Lost cards will not be replaced.
13. Members
without access to their online account or a valid membership card may be denied
entry or required to pay a visit fee.
14. Different membership types offer varied access times and facilities (e.g., Platinum, Off-Peak).
• We reserve the right to change or withdraw membership types with a minimum of 28 days’ notice.
15. Off-Peak
members can access the facilities between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM and must leave by
4:00 PM.
16. Failure
to leave the premises by 4:00 PM may result in membership termination.
17. Admission
may be refused when the facility reaches maximum capacity.
18. Facilities
may occasionally close due to maintenance or unforeseen circumstances.
• No
refunds, credits, or compensation will be given for closures.
• We will
provide advance notice when possible.
MEMBERSHIP FREEZE
19. Members
may request to freeze their membership for medical reasons (e.g., illness or
injury). Requests must be submitted in advance via email.
20. Monthly-paying
members must keep their direct debit active during the freeze period.
• No credit
is provided for partial-month freezes.
• If a
direct debit is canceled, the membership will be terminated with no refund.
21. Lump-sum
memberships can be frozen for 1 to 3 months (or longer in exceptional cases).
• The
freeze period must be specified at the time of the request.
22. If a
membership is cancelled while frozen, one full monthly payment will still be
required as a notice period.
CANCELLATION POLICY
23. Members
must provide 30 days’ written notice to cancel their membership.
24. Cancellation
requests must be sent via email to info@ruskinfitness.com.
25. After
submitting a cancellation request, one final payment will be collected.
• Example:
If notice is given on June 20, payment will be taken on July 1, and membership
will expire on July 31. No refunds will be given.
26. Membership
cannot be canceled until the first full month’s direct debit payment has been
collected.
27. Members
should not cancel their direct debit until their final payment has been
processed.
28. If
rejoining after cancellation, new joining fees and membership rates will apply.
29. If a
member fails to cancel their direct debit or provide valid written notice, the
gym retains any payments received.
30. Lump-sum
memberships cannot be canceled mid-term. They will automatically expire at the
end of the term unless renewed.
31. We may
cancel a membership if:
• A serious
or repeated breach of membership rules occurs.
• Membership
fees remain unpaid 30 days after the due date.
• False
information was provided during sign-up that affected our decision to grant
membership.
• If
membership is terminated for these reasons, we reserve the right to retain
payments to cover incurred costs.
32. Membership
may be suspended or terminated if a member:
• Causes
injury, damage, or theft.
• Uses
offensive language or behaves irresponsibly.
33. Members
who sign up online have a 14-day cooling-off period to cancel.
• If the
club has been used during this time, a pro-rata refund will be issued.
ETIQUETTE & SAFETY
34. Food may
only be consumed in designated lounge areas.
35. Members
must follow instructions from staff and management.
36. All club
signage and rules must be adhered to.
37. Members
must not use facilities under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medications
that cause drowsiness.
38. Members
with medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, heart disease) must obtain medical
clearance before exercising.
39. Appropriate
gym attire and footwear are required.
• Swimwear
must be worn in pool areas.
• T-shirts and
training shoes must be worn in the gym.
• Sliders
are not permitted in the gym.
40. Pool
users must shower before entering and between facility use.
41. No
inflatables, flippers, or unauthorized equipment are allowed in the pool.
42. Running
and diving are not permitted in the pool area.
43. Smoking
and vaping are prohibited.
44. Mobile
phone use is not allowed in the pool area.
45. Photography
and video recording are restricted to designated areas and require consent from
those appearing in them.
CLASS BOOKINGS & ATTENDANCE
46. Classes
must be booked via the gym app or website and are available on a first-come,
first-served basis.
47. Cancellations
must be made at least 8 hours before the class starts.
48. Failure
to cancel within 8 hours will result in a late cancellation or no-show record.
49. Members
with two or more late cancellations/no-shows within 30 days may be temporarily
restricted from booking classes for 7 days.
50. Members
arriving more than 10 minutes late may not be permitted to join the class.
51. The gym
reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes.
LIABILITY & MISCELLANEOUS
52. Members
are responsible for their belongings. The club is not liable for lost, stolen,
or damaged items.
53. Overnight
locker storage is not permitted. Items left overnight will be removed and held
for 7 days.
54. The gym
reserves the right to open lockers if misuse is suspected.
55. Members
should arrange their own insurance for injuries or lost property.
56. Members
should seek medical advice before exercising if unsure of their physical
capability.
57. Members
must inform the club of any changes to their medical condition or contact
details.
58. The club
reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.
